Job Summary

The Circulation Specialist reports to the Director of the Frank & Laura Lewis Library. Primary responsibilities include overseeing circulation, managing all aspects of student workers, managing course reserves, and room reservations.


Job Duties:

  • Management of Circulation Services
  • Scheduling personnel at the Circulation and Help Desk
  • Maintaining statistics and other records in support of the annual report
  • Training, supervising, and evaluating work study students
  • Daily supervision of the Circulation Associate and Circulation Assistant
  • Manages room reservations for students, faculty, and staff
  • Supervise Inter-Library Loan requests
  • Maintains electronic policy and procedure manuals
  • Maintains the Browsing Collection
  • Serves as library coordinator for emergency response issues
  • Performs circulation desk duties; checks materials in and out; collects library fines and other fees
  • Assists patrons with general questions, location of materials, and use of software applications
  • Performs other tasks and related duties as assigned by the Director of the Library

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light objects and climbs ladders.
  • The work is typically performed in a library.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to motivate and supervise
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Bachelor’s degree required
