Under the direction of the Director of Athletics & Recreation and the Associate Director of Compliance/Sports Medicine, the Assistant Athletics Director/Head Golf Coach is responsible for assisting the Associate Director of Compliance and Sports Medicine in a variety of administrative and technical duties requiring knowledge of methods and procedures to provide support for many aspects of compliance for an NCAA Division III athletics program.


This position will serve on the Director of Athletics and Recreation Leadership Team. This position will assist with providing leadership and guidance in general policy development, high-level management of regulatory responsibilities and staff development. This position will also play a key role in the development of a positive and supportive organizational culture.


As the Head Golf Coach this position is responsible for the oversight of all aspects of a NCAA Division III golf program. This position provides leadership in support of the men’s golf program’s goals in alignment with the College’s Vision, Mission and Core Values.       


  1. Assists the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance/Sports Medicine in overseeing all aspects NCAA and USA South Conference rules compliance for the College’s NCAA Division III sports programs.
  2. Assists with the compliance operations that seamlessly relate to academic success such as but not limited to initial and continuing eligibility education and academic-related monitoring and reporting.
  3. Assists with creating and implementing monthly comprehensive NCAA and USA South Conference rules education programs.
  4. Assists in reviewing all NCAA and USA South Conference documentation required for operating and conducting the College’s NCAA Division III athletics program.
  5. Serves as a member of the College’s Athletics Compliance Committee.
  6. Assists with monitoring the day-to-day operations of the Athletics Compliance Office responsibilities including but not limited to: (1) amateurism; (2) recruiting; (3) initial and continuing eligibility; (4) financial aid; (5) awards and benefits; (6) playing and practice seasons and (7) countable athletically related activities (CARA) logs.
  7. Serves as a resource to research and provide interpretations regarding NCAA and USA South Conference rules.
  8. Researches and educates coaches, staff, and student-athletes on all changes to NCAA rules.
  9. Assists with preparing waivers and reporting violations.


  1. Ensures that the intercollegiate golf program supports the Vision, Mission, and Core Values of LaGrange College.
  2. Organizes and directs an effective intercollegiate golf program.
  3. Ensures compliance with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and USA South Conference rules and regulations.
  4. Coordinates the recruitment of prospective student-athletes for the golf program.
  5. Informs the Director of Athletics & Recreation on all matters relating to the golf program.
  6. Prepares the annual operating budget structure, monitors expenditures, and ensures the golf program stays within budget allocations.
  7. Develops and maintains a recruiting system to identify potential prospective student-athletes by working closely with area high school coaches and two-year college coaches.
  8. Works with the Offices of Admissions and Financial Aid to expedite the admission and financial aid award process for prospective student-athletes.
  9. Develops the contest schedule and coordinates all team travel arrangements.
  10. Serves as a positive role model for student-athletes by always exhibiting ethical and professional conduct.
  11. Plans, organizes, and administers all in-season practice activities.
  12. Represents LaGrange College at various civic, community speaking, fundraising, and marketing events.
  13. Supervises all pre-season conditioning activities and non-traditional season programs.
  14. Coordinates all aspects golf camps and clinics.
  15. Oversees work-study students.
  16. Contributes to the overall success of the intercollegiate athletics program by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


  1. This position involves both inside sedentary work and outside work in coaching and training activities with student-athletes.
  2. Demonstration of appropriate golf skills may involve strained muscles or orthopedic related injuries.


  1. Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university/college.
  2. Required: Prior golf coaching experience or a PGA Certification with teaching experience.
  3. Required: Successful experience in recruiting student-athletes.
  4. Required: Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, administrators, and alumni.
  5. Required:  Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  6. Preferred: Master’s degree.
  7. Preferred: Five years of administrative/head golf coaching experience at the collegiate level. 


  1. Ability to analyze a golf swing and make corrections as needed.
  2. Ability recruit student-athletes and yield student-athletes who have the capabilities to be successful in a challenging academic and athletic environment.
  3. Ability to effectively communicate both within and outside the College including, but not limited to; student-athletes, parents, recruits, coaches, civic and business leaders.
  4. Ability to work collaboratively within a group setting.
  5. Ability to provide effective leadership to student-athletes that encourages academic success and competitive performance.
  6. Ability to work a flexible schedule (i.e., evenings, weekends).
  7. Current training in First Aid and CPR.
