Description

Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of
Director of the Library this position provides reference services, library instruction, and inter-library loan services to the LaGrange College Community.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide reference service and research assistance for students, faculty, administrators, and staff
  • Provide interlibrary loan service for students, faculty, administrators, and staff
  • Perform collection development for print and electronic reference
  • Manage the ILS
  • Serve as liaison to assigned departments
  • Provide library instruction for liaison departments
  • Perform collection development for liaison departments
  • Maintain statistics regarding reference services and interlibrary loan
  • Work one or two evenings per week during the fall and spring semesters, as assigned
  • Other duties as may be assigned in support of the library’s mission

Qualifications

  • M.L.I.S. degree from an ALA accredited program
  • Broad knowledge of print and electronic reference sources
  • Knowledge and experience related to interlibrary loan services
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent instructional skills
  • Ability to effectively engage students and faculty in a reference interview
  • Ability to assess strengths and weaknesses of collections supporting the departments to which he/she is assigned as liaison
