LaGrange College seeks applicants for a full-time faculty position in the Musical Theatre program which is shared by Theatre Arts and Music. The appointment begins with the 2018-2019 academic year beginning August 1, 2018.
Teaching courses in the Musical Theatre performance program (scene study, solo and audition techniques, musical theatre history) and work on musical theatre productions according to candidate’s strengths. Work collaboratively with Musical Theatre faculty to prepare all majors for competitions and auditions. Vigorous recruitment of new musical theatre students is central to the position, including participation in all regional theatre/musical theatre conferences. A record of successful coaching for national unified auditions is preferred.
Terminal degree plus extensive experience and training in Musical Theatre (MFA in Musical Theatre or related Theatre/Music discipline) and/or commensurate experience. The successful candidate should have extensive experience directing and teaching multiple styles of musical theatre repertoire, including classic Broadway, contemporary pop, and rock styles.
All candidates should possess a minimum of two years of teaching at the college level; significant professional experience; and demonstrated network of industry professionals. The successful candidate must also be a strong energetic leader, good communicator and collaborator invested in growing our new Musical Theatre program and mentoring musical theatre students.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
