Description

The Access Services Librarian is a member of the Access Services Department and reports to the Director of the Frank & Laura Lewis Library. The Access Services Librarian performs a variety of managerial and operational duties that require knowledge of library systems and procedures to provide access to the collection and assist patrons in the use of library resources and services.
 

DUTIES INCLUDE (BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

  • Processing, Cataloging and Organizing materials for retrieval
  • Supervise the copy cataloging and processing of the Cataloging and ILL Assistant
  • Supervise Inter-Library Loan requests
  • Create and maintain bibliographic records for unique items and items of a local nature
  • Create and maintain authority records in the ILS system
  • Serve as library liaison to assigned departments
  • Provide library instruction for liaison departments
  • Maintain files appropriate for invoices and vendor information
  • Provide research assistance to students and faculty, including one evening per week
  • Perform circulation desk duties
  • Assist patrons with general questions, location of materials and use of software applications
  • Perform other tasks and related duties as assigned by the Director of the Library
 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION:

  • MLIS from an ALA accredited program
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Sirsi-Dynix ILS
  • Experience in an academic library
 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work while sitting at a desk or table or intermittently sitting, standing or stooping
  • Ability to lift light objects and climb ladders
