Description

Reporting to the library director, the Technical and Public Services Librarian is responsible for managing all aspects of processing, cataloging and organizing materials for retrieval and providing library instruction and services to assigned liaison departments. This position requires a knowledge of current cataloging practices and the flexibility to balance various types of duties in a small academic library.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Overall responsibility for processing, cataloging, and organizing materials for retrieval

  • Supervise the copy cataloging and processing of the Cataloging and General Assistant

  • Create and maintain bibliographic records for unique items and items of a local nature

  • Create and maintain authority records in the ILS system

  • Collaborate with the Electronic Resources Librarian to maintain the ILS system

  • Serve as library liaison to assigned departments

  • Provide library instruction for liaison departments

  • Perform collection development in liaison subjects

  • Provide some research assistance to students and faculty, including evening duty

  • Assist with library technology as assigned

  • Other duties as assigned to support the library’s mission

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • M.L.I.S. degree from an ALA accredited program required

  • Experience in an academic library desired

  • Independently motivated
