LaGrange College seeks qualified applicants for a graduate assistantship for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program.

Graduate Assistant Eligibility Requirements:
Graduate Assistants must be fully admitted to a graduate program at LaGrange College, preferably the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, to begin and retain their position. Students with an undergraduate overall GPA of 3.0 or higher will be considered the most competitive candidate for a GA assignment. The candidate must have the ability to conduct research, be an effective communicator, have a strong background in technology, and be able to manage multiple roles with ease.

Graduate Assistant Job Description

Assistants work 20 hours per week with faculty in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Graduate Assistant’s perform duties such as assisting the faculty member with research projects, teaching, coordination of program activities, working on CACREP accreditation and related work. Such experience is an advantage for students who intend to pursue admission to doctoral programs in counselor education and supervision, or in psychology. In recent years, assistants have co-presented research with faculty at various state counseling conferences.

Financial Benefits:
Graduate Assistantship Tuition Courtesy pays for tuition up to 9 credit hours for graduate coursework per semester. The student is responsible for additional fees outlined in the agreement letter.
Graduate Assistant Stipend totals $4,000.00 per academic year, and it is paid monthly in 10 equal payments, beginning August 30 of the academic year through August 1 of the following year.


To be considered for this assistantship, applicants must submit:
1) Statement of Purpose - (500 words) describe your qualifications, long-term goals and how this assistantship will contribute to them
2) Writing Sample - a sample that represents your best scholarly work; ideally a research paper which demonstrate your ability to effectively write a research paper.
3) Transcripts - unofficial transcripts may be submitted; if awarded the position, an official transcript will be required before beginning the assistantship (not required for applicants currently enrolled at LaGrange College)
4) Curriculum Vitae
5) Letter of Recommendation - should be from a faculty member
